Currently {I'm on Spring Break...}

It's Spring Break!!!!!!!!

Let's see....

1. Didn't roll out of bed until 7:30
2. Drank my coffee out of a cup, not a travel mug
3. Drank my coffee slowly while reading
4. Cleaned my house leisurely/while gabbing away on the phone
5. Showered and dressed, hmmm, right around noon, then took the boys bowling

I'd say it's been a great first day of vacation.  The cherry on top?  Farley's Currently...

Jenn over at Finally in First is having a countdown to spring break giveaway...

I'm really crossing my fingers on this one...Day #1 is a little personal laminator.  Funny thing is, before blogging, I had no idea I needed one of those.  Now, it's on my top ten list of must haves.  I don't know what to make of that!?!

I'd like to say I've got something teacher-y brewing and that you'll need to just hang on tight - but I don't.  I didn't bring anything home with me.  I'm going in to work one of these days though...my boys LOVE playing in the gym, running around the halls, acting wild and crazy withOUT being send to the principal's office.  Maybe I'll find some inspiration then.  In the meantime..

It's tubby time for the puppers...wish me luck!

April FoOoOlS Day, Lunchbox Linky...SPRING BREAK!

Holy Shmoly,

April FooOols!  Whoever you are, you sweet little funny person who UN-followed me...come back now, I'm on to you....aPrIL fOoLs!  I went to bed last night, March 31st with 500 followers and woke up this morning, April 1st to 499.  Hardy har har har - you can come back now!!!!!

Was this last month nutty or what?  I'm so gladly welcoming spring break - we're going to enjoy a staycation and I can't think of any better way to spend it!  Something else that's nutty...

...this would look MUCH better if it were hugging a yummy chai tea latte from Starbucks - but a 7 Eleven iced mocha will have to do.  This little cutie is from my bloggy buddy Staci over at Going Nutty! In Miss Squirrel's First Grade - just because!  She really made my day - it came right after that insanely busy week....thanks, darlin'!  If you like it, go visit her blog, follow her, and then convince her to have a bloggy giveaway...I have my eye on the one with the 'stache!

In any spare time I could find {which wasn't much - so I'm only 6% through...ha - that's Kindle talk - I never know what page I'm on, or what chapters I've read, just my percent read} I decided to hunker down and read....

I think I'm gonna like it!

....and I'm a little late to the party, but....I couldn't pass up the opportunity to be nosy.  I've loved peeking inside your lunchboxes!!!!!  Mine is no great shakes, but I did realize I have quite the lunchbox collection...

Totally depends on...nothing....when deciding on which one I'll bring.  It's whichever one is at home and not left in the car or the classroom.

I'm usually a leftover queen - whatever we had for dinner the night before, ends up in my lunchbox the next day. If there's nothing left over, I'm a total snacky-lunch person.  My lunch might contain:

No great shakes.

First grade has the "brunch" hour - our kids go out to recess first at 10:45 - a noonaide comes and gets them and also takes them to lunch afterward {30 minutes outside}.  Luckily,  I have a duty-free lunch hour...I'm just not sure how I would cope if I had to eat with my kiddos. Not sure about your lunch rooms but ours is a circus!!!!! When I go down to the lounge to grab my food {heat it up if need be}I usually chat a bit while it's nuking, then stop by the office to grab my mail and chat a bit in there and then go back to my room, shut my lights off and work and eat in the peace and quiet.  I have to go pick my kids up from the cafeteria at 11:45 so that's a full hour to regroup and get ready for the afternoon.  Ahhhhhh.....

Happy Spring Break!!!!!!

Happy Monday and all That Jazz...

They're back....

I haven't had one of these in YEARS!  Drove up to the window, ordered it and what do you know they add whipped cream and a cherry to boot! Oh, no - no - no. I'm a purist.  Kid at the window didn't know that and he gladly remade it.  I really don't think he spit in it. I would have been able to see that right? Cuz I checked.

Do you wanna know why I haven't been blogging? My mind is a whirlwind.  I just can't hunker down and focus in on any one thing.  Soooo, I need to give Farley a big 'ol hug to thank her for my "Get Out of Jail" card {Love this linky party}...because I'm pretty sure I belong in Blogger Jail.  I'll pull it together one day soon.. until then...

Good thing I re-read that before moving on to The Bachelor {Women Tell All...my FAVE!}.  The Poop.  To start this school year I walked into my empty room and found one lonely little creature sitting on a table.

I might have pulled a few pranks last year which just might have prompted a few people on staff to feel the need to have somebody or something keep a watchful eye on me.  By, my gosh, watching our janitor turn his vacuum cleaner upside down and pull out his screwdriver cracked me up to tears {Plug, unplug, plug, unplug} or the infamous POOP.  Honestly, I wasn't the one who started the whole poop thing.  One day it just ended up in my classroom and I never was able to find its owner.  Now, Mr. Plastic Poop drops in at various times and crazy places - of course when you least expect it.  {No worries - it's never when the kids are around!!!!!}  Mr. Poop has seen better days though - when I planted it under a desk I asked our custodian to fix he mistook it for a dirty pickle.

Laughter is good for the soul!

Go find yourself a good laugh - infuse it in your teaching, your home anywhere you can in your life.  A giggle does a body good!

Kshhhhhh, oweeeeee, Kssshhhhhhh - You've Got Mail - How I Met My Hubbers

Do you remember the days of AOL {America Online}? Does AOL still exist? Do you remember the external modems that sounded like a rocket ship taking off?   If you're too young to remember what I'm talking about I've provided a visual/audio aid below...

How about that busy signal? I used to try signing on to AOL FOREVER....just kept typing in that password...all that persistence paid off...

That trailer about sums it up.  Hubby and I frequented the same chatroom. Our first encounter went something like this:

Him: MSU rocks!
Me: You're from Michigan?  Me too!
Him: Cool
Me: Whe-

Dang - got the boot {Do you remember being mid-whatever and getting booted?}

After countless tries signing back on and then more tries getting into a busy chatroom "sorry, this chatroom is full"...I finally logged back into "Romance Connection" {Don't you dare make fun of me - I wasn't going to tell...}.

Him: You're back
Me: Yup - darn AOL
Him: LOL
Me: "Heather, {My college roomie} what does LOL mean?"
Me: yeah, LOL
Him: Do you go to college?
Me: Yeah, you?
Him: yeah, gonna be a teacher
Me: No way!?!?! Me too!!!!!!
Him:  Cool, whole language or basal?

Need I say more?  The guy knows how to pick up a lady...I bet none of you can say your hubsters or signifcant others used that pick up line on you!!!!!  Paws off girls, he's all mine...stop your swooning.

We logged in every night after school and chatted it up in "private messages" until one day he asked  if I wanted to meet.  Did you see Meg Ryan's reaction?  That was me, except I jumped out of my chair, raced around the apartment in circles saying over and over and over again "oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh...."

I remember typing "ok" and sat there FoReVeR without pressing send!

Him: You still there?  I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have asked that question. I'm so sorry.

And then I hit  - SEND.

I wanted to take it back the minute I sent it.  I didn't call him the Rooftop Killer but I used to joke around about  him being an ax murderer!

So, we set up a time to meet...in a PUBLIC place.  I know, I know - you're applauding my smarts right now.

Hold the applause.

We met at Chili's. I knew exactly who I was looking for. Tom Hanks {You've Got Mail wasn't out yet} . No joke. We never exchanged pictures but we did tell eachother who people say we look like and his look-alike is Tom Hanks.  At first I pictured the Bosom Buddies version...yikes}...

Sadly, he wasn't looking for Meg Ryan he was seeking out...

I don't know what I was thinking...

We met, we hugged, we talked and talked and talked and sent the waitress away at least a hundred times before we were ready to order. It was kismet {Ha, I've always wanted to use that word - but seriously, it was a pretty instant connection}.  He came back to my place {see, I told you to hold that applause} but NOTHING happened...no ax...we did watch Forest Gump though...not even joking and just hung out.

When he proposed to me a year or so later he said "I guess I'm not that ax murderer you thought I might be..."

Ksshhhh, oweeeee, kssssshhhhhh...that sound of the modem connecting me to my future hubby will always make me smile....

Now go link up with Chrissy or check out her blog and read about some other great love connections...{I'll be back in two and two - leave a comment if you know what that means - HA!}

You Know You're a Teacher When...

....you get excited about a trip to the Target Dollar Spot!!!!  Which was a total let down today.  What was I thinking? It was completely picked over.  But I did find a few things for my boys' teachers.  I love giving little "sparkles" here and there to the loves of their lives...yeah, their teachers are goddesses in their little worlds. Mom - I know nothing.  So many times I've said to my boys "I'm a teacher too...I know what I'm talking about...Mrs. _________ isn't the only one who knows how to __________!!!!!!"

But boy do I appreciate all of their hard work and consider my boys to be mighty lucky that they are in their lives and just like I know when one of my first graders accidentally calls me "Mom" it's because they are so comfortable with me {LOVE THAT} I know the same can be said for when my boys call me "Mrs. _________".  {LOVE THAT TOO!}

I've loved reading your "You Know You're a Teacher When"...

Here are some of mine {I could have kept going}...

Not that this has happened to me before, but have you ever been pulled over...for, say...exceeding the speed limit just a wee bit and as the police officer sauntered over you casually swung your teacher ID badge over {or yanked it out from under your winter parka} so he might, ummm, might just see it and for some reason find his soft side and let you off with a warning? I'm not saying that this has ever happened to me....it's all heresay and speculation - but, if you ever were to, say, find yourself in a wee bit of a traffic predicament it may be worth a try. I'll have to remember that one.

Happy Sunday!!!!

Linky Parties and Bubble Baths

To celebrate 1/2 way to 100 followers I wanted to start a linky party.  Man, that technology is WAY beyond what I can comprehend at this hour.  Honestly, I think about all I can handle right now after my day {I literally had kids barking, and one kid stood on her chair in the middle of my rivoting math lesson...say what?!?} is a good read in a nice hot bubble bath {I believe all problems can be solved in a bath full of bubbles - and a good juicy star-filled magazine...say Us Weekly or People}.

But seriously, how *does* one create a linky party?

I had grand plans...wanna hear 'em?  I was going to start a linky party where we all shared how we got started.  Like, think back to when you had a wee 50 followers and who you were then as a blogger compared to who you are now.  Maybe post a document you created "way back when" and tell us what got you started blogging in the first place?

But that will have to wait.  For now - I'm going to walk my weary feet upstairs, get the water as hot as my tootsies can stand and maybe if I'm feeling wild I'll pour in TWO capfuls of bubble bath rather than my standard one...

Oh, just so you don't think I'm slacking - I do have a really cute thing cookin' with bikes and books that fit...hmmm...are you curious?

Happy Thursday Eve!
