It's the Pencil Sharpener of my DREAMS, Peeps!

Okay, I know you've seen this around blogland. I know pencil sharpeners probably don't tickle your fancy...but girls, please...I beg you, PLEASE do not move onto another blog before reading this first.

Troy is a genius...It's quite possible that if I were to meet him, I'd hug him for an awkwardly long time. He is not only a teacher but inventor of...

Friends, I wish you could hear how emphatically I'm telling you to hop on the world wide web and order yourself one of these NOW!

Can I tell you that my last electric pencil sharpener died after 5 days....

Yes, that's the 'ol Son of a Gun in my garbage can.  Actually, after tossing him in there I pulled him right back out and plan on sending him back he owes me FIFTY bucks!!!

Then...Hank arrived ...

I get goosebumps just thinking about him.  I. kid. you. not. perfect. pencil. every. time.

Sad pencil = sad teacher

Pencil Perfection

My kiddos don't sharpen their own pencils, I have fourth grade helpers that do that for us.  Those girls were beyond frustrated with their pencil sharpening duties.  Daily they gave Son of a Gun a try and either sharpened them to a nub or pseudo sharpened them.  Know what that is?  It's when they appear to be sharp but the very second you put pencil to paper, the lead falls out.  My fourth grade helpers were giddy, I tell you, GIDDY to use Hank and my firsties are equally impressed with his performance.

Hubs wants me to order one for his classroom and my principal already took down Troy's information and plans on making a purchase for our school.  Looks like he {and you} better hurry because the gorgeous green ones have already sold out!

For $19.95 and free shipping...what do you have to lose?!?!?

The only warning I can issue...if you purchase one, and we were to one day meet, you might just be tempted to hug ME for an awkwardly long time. No worries - I'd completely understand, but I did feel obligated to let you know in case you aren't a huggy person....

Happy Weekend!!!!!

    1. No, that's the beauty...no motors to burn out, you can purchase replacement blades {which other manual sharpeners do not provide}. Seriously, it's sheer genius...like an electric sharpener, it stops sharpening once it's "done" so no sharpening down to a nub {like other manual sharpeners}. He's quiet and cute. Just my type.

  7. I had one in the car yesterday... then changed my mind. I don't know why I keep second guessing this thing that everyone raves about. Is it fast? I sharpen A LOT of pencils.

    1. Well, considering my fourth graders either sharpen the same pencil over and over again because the lead just keeps falling out, get it right down to a nub, throw it away, sharpen another one with the same outcome, then finally come to a Ticonderoga that can SOMETIMES withstand the angry jaws of 'ol Son of a Gun...yeah...technically it takes "longer" to turn the crank...but in the end, you don't EVER have to resharpen. So, I'd say no it doesn't take longer. If you consider that my fourth graders, generation of instant gratification have fallen madly in love with Hank... it's worth the "wait"...

  13. I ordered one for my classroom and loved it. Other teachers wanted one or more so I placed an order for 40. You get a discount if you place a large order. I think they ended up being about $15.00 dollars each. My first graders have learned how to use this wonderful pencil sharpener. You have to learn how to open it to get stuck lead out. This doesn't happen often with regular pencils. It happens when you sharpen colored pencils. I have three in my room.

  16. Oh man! SO JEALOUS! Dull pencils SO NOT FUN! My 2nd pencil sharpener this year is already on its way out. I am excited about this one. Perhaps he won't break my heart like the last two...only other teachers will truly understand my pain!

Excited for this guy!!! Thanks for sharing!

  22. How quiet is quiet? I had the custodian remove my pencil sharpener because my seventh graders would disrupt class constantly. It is easy to require pen in English but some kiddos are attached to their pencils. If this is less disruptive, I am sold!

    1. It's really pretty quiet - not super stealth quiet or anything, after all it is sharpening pencils...but I'd say it's definitely quieter than an electric and other manual ones. One of my fourth grade helpers noticed on her own how quiet it was.

  25. I'm headed over to look now. I have the X-acto School Pro but after sharpening all of the leads fall out. I thought it was the pencils. Does this actually help with that? If so I'm sold.
