Currently November

Happy November!!!!! Made it through conferences, Halloween and now we're moving on to the busy-ness of the holidays.  I love it though!  I'm DETERMINED to focus on being in the moment and really enjoying the holidays instead of getting caught up in the whirlwind of it all.  Let's keep each other grounded, okay? Deal?

I swear, you guys, I thought I had fallen off the wagon...I blame it on the Milk Duds!

We're celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary when the kids go to Granny Camp. Ahhhh....

I'm always late to the party - but seriously...

I'm having a hard time finishing this post - I just want to go watch Damon!!

Now that I have a middle schooler - I have to wait for him to catch the bus in the morning before I head off to work.  I cut getting to school on time pretty close - so my Friday chai tea lattes are a thing of the past.  TOMORROW for sure!!!!

I'm notorious for pinning and not doing.  I haven't actually tried these but don't they look scrumpdilicious!?!?! Healthy too!!

Currently ~ July & Some Winners!

Hey All,

This will have to be fast - I mean, my hammock is calling my name...

I haven't linked up with Farley over at Oh Boy, Fourth Grade in a while...so here I am and here it is...

I think it pretty much 'splains itself...

The weather here in MI has been iffy...you think it's going to be a nice day, then those clouds roll in and along with them storms.  I can't tell you how many times this week I climbed into my new hammock, only to have to come in shortly after...

I've mostly been reading "Teach Like a Pirate" {awesome read} but want to find something non-thinking...any ideas?

And as far as tips, tricks or hints. Balance!  That's really the key to life, right?  You can't be everything to everybody and will kill yourself {or at least make yourself miserable} trying.  So, just do what you can and be happy with that.  Along with that, try not to compare your success to others.  I'd say that if your hard work inspires or helps even just one teacher...well, you're doing mighty good!

Friends, I've got nothing...I mean, I'm so tired I think I may just go to bed now.  How's that? 

I did muster up a Currently because I love them and Farley so much!!!

Currently...AUGUST!?!

Ummm, I'm telling - Farley said the "A" word and then she said the "S" word too!!!! We aren't allowed to say those words in my house...not yet anyway.

Just a side note for my newer teacher friends...when a kiddo tells you that their friend said the "f" word...always clarify! Fart tops the list of really bad words in a first grader's life...that and stupid!

August and School are bad words in this two-teacher household!  Nahh, not really.  We love 'em both - we're just not quite ready for them yet.  We still have another month!!!

3.  I was going to say coffee {preferrably Starbucks} but that's a given.  My newest addiction {thanks to my uber healthy friend and soon-to-be bloggy buddy Barb} is Coconut Water & Pink Lady apples.  No joke!!!!  I'm going to TRY to snack healthier throughout the day this school year.

Currently July & A Freebie!

I don't know which makes me happier.  The Bachelorette is meeting the families tonight or Farley's July Currently?  What's even better?  Reading everybody's Currently WHILE watching the Bachelorette.  Them's my big plans tonight people.  Doesn't get much better than that!

I'm admittedly a very nosy person. I mean, I don't weedle my way into your life and make you all uncomfortable or anything - but I do like to know what's what.  My husband often refers to me as "Agnes" or "Mrs. Kravitz".... It can't be helped...it's who I am.  I may or may not have been known to unwrap Christmas gifts just a smidge to see what I was getting...probably never happened {more than once or twice} and NEVER{okay, rarely} happens now that I'm all growed up.

So, tonight is going to be crazy awesome.  I get to hop around to your blogs and read what you're up to AND go on dates with Emily!!!!!!  Sweeeeet!

But for me, right this very instant...

I love all the Stinky Face books!  I can read them again and again both to my school children and my own. The main character reminds me of my own little guy...always full of questions.  I read this one at the start of the school year.

My go-to professional book has really withstood the test of time. I love the ideas today as much as I did when the book first came to print!

Today, I realized that I needed to keep a to-do list on the side of my bed.  Last night so many awesome ideas popped into my brain right before I fell asleep.  You can download it if you find yourself unable to turn off your brain too! Lists for your classroom, TpT, blog, etc.

I am going to grade those writing prompts. I am. Right now.  After I go eat a little something and after I watch the rest of the Bachelorette.  Then I will.  Do you all have writing prompts/assessments that you do for your district?  Do you happen to have a great rubric you use to score them that you'd care to share?  If so, send 'em my way @ hollywazy4@gmail.com.  Our rubric stinks to high heaven and I really wish we could find one that doesn't leave so much to the imagination.

Currently and a Giveaway

I'm linking up with Farley over at Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for her May Currently.  May. May? MAY!?!?  This is a thrilling time of year for most teachers.  We can almost taste the lazy days of summer. {Slow mornings?  Yes, please} But it leaves me feeling so frantic and melancholy too.  I've never been a countdown girl. Puts too much stress on the 'ol ticker.  Makes me way more spazzy than I already am.  I still have teaching to do. I've molded this class to "perfection", and taking down my room sends shivers up my spine. 

I switched schools last year and my classroom has VERY LITTLE storage space.  Like, three small cabinets and that's it.  My old classroom had more storage than a happy teacher knew what to do with.  What does classroom tear down look like for you?  We don't really have any hardfast rules for what we must do.  Some teachers leave up most of their bulletin boards and just cover them for the summer, others, like me, tear it down to bare bones so they have a fresh palate for the following school year. 

I take it all down, I put it all away...{Away where? Is the question!} I love to mix it all up the next school year {Which I LOVE!}.  With that, and the end of the year hullabaloo, I stress. I stress big time.  So, instead of counting down the days to that craziness...I just pretend it's January.  Strange. I know.

I take it one day at a time...and currently...

Happy Monday!!!!

Last night I watched my last Super Bowl commercial and saw that Farley had started her February Currently Linky party...

You don't know {Wait a minute, yeah, you probably do} what self control it took to NOT link up right then and there. I went to bed, and even woke up in the middle of the night to double check that I closed the garage door, locked the slider and LINK up.  I did actually open up the computer and said to myself in a whisper...no don't do it.  And went back up to bed...

Woke up this morning, and thought "Rats it's a hair washing day"...no time to blog.  Not that I could do a Currently that fast anyway...I have to merinate my thoughts and type, erase, type, erase, type...

Here it is, pre-Bachelor...by the way, I checked Reality Steve and I know who wins.  Yes, I'm the person who sometimes reads the ending of a book mid-book...I can't stand suspense. It makes my heart palpitate.  No worries...I'm a steel trap.

I'm loving that I can count on Farley's monthly Linky Party...

1.  I  find new blogs to stalk and of course follow!
2.  I don't have to use many brain cells to participate
3.  I love reading other people's "Currently's" {I also love going for walks/runs at dusk when I can sort of peek in people's windows - to see "house stuff" decor/etc...not the actual people. Now that would just be weird, people watching,  gossiping...not mean gossip though...don't want you to get the wrong idea}
4. Farley always picks the cutest little templates so it dolls up my blog!

Don't you just love it when you hit the jackpot?  You click on one person's blog, do a little stalking, and find a whole slew of awesomeness?  It's like "where have you been all my life?!?"...

So, in my late night stalking {Can I tell you how many times I looked at the clock and told myself to GO. TO. BED.} I happened upon Farley's blog over at Oh Boy Fourth Grade {But for some reason it won't let me "follow"...grrmph}and I saw this cute little "Currently" fun going on.  I thought I'd join in and maybe you will too! I love checking out Farley's blog because I have a fourth grader of my own. It's neat to see what's going on in her neck of the woods and it gives me a good idea on what to expect of and for my {not so} little guy!

Another blog that I stalk a ton is Erica's over at Erica Bohrer's First Grade.  I check out that girl's blog daily.  You know how you read somebody's blog and you either think it's somebody you know IRL that is blogging undercover or you think if you knew them IRL you'd be the best teaching buddies ever?  That's Erica's blog for me - and I don't think she even knows it!!! HA!
